映画: ダーリンは外国人 My Darling is a Foreignor

Difficulty Ranking: B/I

Well, there's subtitles for this movie, which is a plus point. It's ok... something you can watch without thinking much about if you're in that kind of mood, but the story is a little weak and strung together, i thought. And the characters, well, especially the westerners were godawful & overly stereotypical for the most part. You don't really get to know the main characters very well either, i thought. Apparently the manga version is really good though... well, Aijin said so, and i trust her taste, so...
Anyway, the language is easy in most places, though there's a couple more things i haven't heard so much. The American guy's Japanese seems good!! And, i do like the phrase 「語学オタク」. i think most people reading this site is one lol. i definately am!!! ;)

  1. First when I saw this film, I thought it kind of resembles reality, but it very obviously doesn't 100%ly. I don't want to say this film is bad, or anything else, it was just "medium". The kind of slap-stick humour is just exaggerated and almost ashaming watching. These are ACTORS, real people and no manga or anime figures and characters. In order to make good and funny slapstick extreme personalities are needed, such as personalities of assholes or heroes etc. Those two main protagonists are, however, only ordinary people. The motif of the overloaded and working saori is appropriate and realistic. Unrealistic is the father of her, changing his mind so quickly.
Just as a note.. btw, you could realise the story of the book better in acts/scenes in a theatreplay I think, than in a whole film.
