テレビ: あいのり(2)

Difficulty Level: 2
Subs: the majority of the speech is subbed on the program
Episodes: 10

The basic idea is that 7 single people (4 guys & 3 girls) go on a bus ride around a country, in this case Bangladesh. If they fall in love with any of the members on the bus they confess to them, and return to Japan - with them if they accepted, and without them if they decline.

i've found it hard to find variety shows that i can watch a lot of episodes of without getting bored or annoyed generally. But i really enjoyed this one!!! i love seeing & getting to know other people's personalities & good points, and this show really lets you do that. Also, because the show is set in poorer countries, there are also parts that show people in Japan what life is like there, and things that are being done to help. Ainori has built schools for children in many different countries, so you could also support them by watching through specific sites if you're in Japan, or buying the DVD box set if you like it.

The language level is not hard at all, there are very few difficult words. It's totally normal speech which is fantastic for us learners!! Also, it's a really good way of getting used to different accents, as the participants come from all over Japan, not just Tokyo. But that also makes it a little more difficult. The sound quality is also not always very good, which is also good practise for real life. It'd be a great program to stick in your ipod i think.

Definitely recommended!

  1. Ainori is really fun! I used to watch it every week when I had the AZN channel (an Asian-themed TV channel), but then AZN went bankrupt and I didn't see any more episodes, I guess I never thought to look online...My favorite part of the show is seeing all the exotic places. I remember one time they went to an island, that was so small at one point that it was like a road with water on both ends. I don't really get to hear about places like this often, so I liked to watch the show to see all the different countries.

  4. TORIIIII ♥♥♥ ありがとう!!

well, you can download Ainori 2 easily from d-addicts, but older ones aren't seeded well at all, it seems! So that's really helpful, thanks!!!

@bokusenou: cooool!!! i hope i get to see that one!! Yeah, i like that as well... (i love travelling, so...) Ainori 2 is all set in Bangladesh, so you don't see as many different places, so i'm looking forward to seeing some older ones!!

i wish they released them all on DVD, it's only around 70 episodes around episode 200 or so, i think...

  5. ahh, damn, they are the d-addicts ones. i hoped that at least the english subbed ones would be seeded better, but apparently not...

you can find a lot of episodes online by typing:
戀愛巴士 ... that's it in chinese i guess. Then click on the "longer than 20 minutes" option in google search.

  6. ... ah, the only problem is, they're chinese subs, which are overlayed over the part of the screen where the japanese subs are, so it's annoying!

  9. All Japanese women love the show it seems, but it would be more fun if you weren't inclined to easily fall in love so you could tour the world longer!

  10. hahah that was my exact thought too!!! Just never confess & turn down all confessions, and you could see the whole world!!

they've made that much more difficult to do though in the new series though, cos when not much seems to be happening, they make the members of the opposite sex vote off one member so someone new comes in...

i am SO addicted to this show!!!!!!
